What I Do and What I Think (Sometimes)
Alejandro Magallanes

Recent posters 2018-2020

Good morning, good afternoon, good night. In this exhibition you will see posters I have recently designed between 2018 and the first months of 2020 and which have been printed and used to advertise movies, exhibitions, colloquiums, festivals, and music. They are posters of recent memory that show where I am heading at this moment in my craft regarding image, typography, techniques and ideas, after 25 years of being dedicated to design, which is what I do and I hope it reflects what I think.

Alejandro Magallanes was born in Mexico City 48 years ago. He studied in the National School of Plastic Arts at the Universidad Autónoma de México. He is dedicated to play and work with letters and images, sometimes on request and others for the mere pleasure.

So far, he has written ten books for children, two of poetry, and a couple of artist’s books. He works for cultural and social areas and has drawn, painted, assembled and designed many other books, posters, animations, collages, photos, letters, and images. Three monographs of his work as a designer and poster artist have been published in China, Spain, and Germany. His work has been internationally recognized. Since 2004, he is a member of the International Graphic Alliance (Alliance Graphique Internationale). He has received many national and international recognitions as well as many exhibitions around the world, but he would not include them in this biodata.

He does not think a picture is worth a thousand words since a thousand word combined create approximately six million images (to say a figure). He believes that if an image is unforgettable to your memory you would not be able to describe with words what it makes you feel.
