Due to its academic training and the critical sense of the time, the origins of Grobet’s work are intimately related to contemporary painting. She was the student of artists like Mathias Goeritz, Gilberto Aceves Navarro, and Katy Horna, among others, who she considers her main influence, together with the legendary wrestler El Santo, the Enmascarado de Plata.

Great part of the photographic work of Lourdes Grobet is signed by transgression, humor and provocation. The artist is enemy of dainties, in the middle of paradox she always has a combat position: to look at the eyes of those who are not listened, she does not want to make images to be adapted to trendy topics. “I do not need to understand why I make photos. I’ve always been clear on why I work on a project.”
