Mr. Valdez is currently the Director of the National System of Photography Archives of the INAH, Mexico.
He has a master’s degree in Cultural Heritage of Mexico and an undergraduate degree in History by the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo. He studied Biology at the UNAM and a diploma course in visual anthropology at the National School of Anthropology and History.
He has assessed more than a hundred national and foreign photography archives, and has participated as lecturer in international photography colloquiums and encounters. He is an invited professor in universities in Mexico, Ibero-America, and Japan. He was an intern in the photography area at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports in Spain (2001). He won the National Award in Research Paul Coremans of INAH, twice (1993 and 1996); and he won a grant from the Local Council for Culture and Arts in Hidalgo as a creator with professional experience in photography (1997). He has published three books on photography conservation, five technical manuals, as well as more than 30 scientific articles.
