Ilán Rabchinskey was born in 1980 in Mexico City. He has exhibited in Mexico, France, England, Spain, Chile, and the United States. He was granted with the scholarship of Young Creators by FONCA (National Fund for Culture and Arts) and was recipient of the Art Projects and Cultural Co-Investment Fund by the same institution.

His work explores the tension between natural forces and the development of human civilizations, the physical composition of matter and the historic place designated for human beings regarding other forms of existence.

He is the author of the books Piedra Fundacional (2019), El Medio Terrestre (with a text by Mario Bellatin, (2017), Remolino de Tierra (2014) and Yo’tan K’op Corazón de la Palabra (2009), edited respectively by Muga, Arts of Mexico in the collection Luz Portátil, Ediciones Acapulco and Trilce Ediciones in co-edition with INAH.

He was selected for the artist residency in Casa Nano, Tokyo, Japan (2019); Dedazo Artist Residency, in Chiapas (2019); ONOMA, in Fiskars, Finland (2018); as well as the residency in Casa Wabi, Oaxaca (2016).

He has received several distinctions like the honorable mention in the Ibero American Contest Nexofoto (2016) and the festival Portfolio (2017 and 2014), and his work has been published and criticized in numerous printed and digital media.

He currently lives in Mexico City. His work is represented by Patricia Conde Galería.
