She is a Full—time researcher at the School of Basic Sciences and Engineering in the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo. She has a PhD in Chemical Sciences by the Universidad de La Habana, Cuba. She is a member of the National System of Researchers Level 2, and has won the Price to Science and Technology of the State of Hidalgo in 2015.
Dr. Otazo was the leader of the Hidalgo’s Project “Action program to face the climate change in Hidalgo” (2011-2014) and the leader of the works of “Inventory of greenhouse gases of Hidalgo and the municipality of Tulancingo de Bravo” (2016). She was also the leader of the National Network of PROMEP Environmental Quality and Sustainable Development. She has been a member of the scientic board of thematic networks of CONACYT Mexican Program of Carbon, Quality Management and Water Availability.
She was the invited editor of a special edition of "Global Warming & Water" of the international magazine International J. Environmental Science and Human Health (MDPI), and has arbitrated some other important magazines. She was the evaluator of the group of experts of CONACYT in callings on National Problems.
Dr. Otazo has directed 23 undergraduate theses, 9 master’s theses and 14 doctoral theses. She has published 79 articles in indexed magazines and numerous works written for events and keynote conferences. She is the co-author of 5 books on topics like underground water, the availability of water in the State of Hidalgo and the link water-energy-food. She is the editor of the book "Water Availability and Management in Mexico" 2020 from the series "Water Science and Technology Library" Vol 88. Springer.
