Alfonso Leonel studied a B.A. in Arts at the Universidad Veracruzana (2004). He is a Promoter and Agent of Community Culture.
He teaches the subject of “Project management” at the Faculty of Arts in the UNAM (as of 2017). He is the founder of Fundación Tlapiques, A.C. created to promote artistic, cultural and environmental expressions in favor of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of Xochimilco, Mexico. He collaborated with the Historic Center Trust by giving photography workshops to children and adolescents in vulnerable conditions (2019). He was the Director of Cultural Groups of the Ministry of Culture of Mexico City (2019). He was the Director of Culture in the District of Xochimilco, Mexico City (2015-2018). Mr. Leonel made some documentary films about the habits and traditions of Xochimilco in stop motion technique. He also created and gave the photography workshops “Amaneceres Chinamperos”. He was an honorary member of the Institutional Mentoring Program of the Faculty of Arts at the UNAM (2020).
Mr. Leonel was a narrator at the CEMEFI Annual Meeting “Resilience and Sustainability in the Digital Era” (November 2020). He also participated as keynote speaker at the 1st International Virtual Symposium on Cultural Management, organized by the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, with the talk “The other look, build the resistance to preserve Xochimilco” (November 2020).
