The formation of the Institute of Health Sciences, ICSa, was authorized
by the honorable University Council on December 14, 1999, with the
following main objectives:
To combine the academic areas of Nursing, Medicine, Odontology,
Pharmacology, Psychology, Nutrition and other related fields.
To develop a progressive academic model that allows teaching,
research and extension to be linked and to have essential inter-,
multi- and trans-disciplinary characteristics.
To produce highly-trained professionals who are prepared to be
team players having the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to
answer the health needs of society and the challenges of the third
millennium.
